Ron Williams, Chairman and CEO of RW2 Enterprises, begins the discussion by talking about the role of video in exposing the societal challenges people of color face daily – from police violence and social injustices to a lack of quality healthcare.
In an interview with Steve Odland, President of The Conference Board, Williams focuses on accessibility to economic opportunity for African Americans and other minority groups as a crucial component to increasing equality. He suggests that boards and CEOs need to be held accountable for promoting diversity within the board and the executive teams.
“I am one of twenty people who is African American and who has been the CEO of a major company,” said Williams. “I can tell you that I am good, but I am not that good to be one of twenty. There is an enormous amount of human capital that is being wasted because we are not giving people the opportunity to demonstrate the impact they can have on business and our society.”
The CEO Forum series features CEOs from across American industry who focus on actionable insights to address underlying challenges of economic opportunity, childhood education, health care, workforce skills development, workplace equality and corporate governance.
